I am starting this blog in the middle of Swords. At the moment we have our first Heartsaver AED course running here. Two of the participants are my own children, Peter aged 15 and Davy aged 13. Two of the other participants are Paul and Claire who are both transition year students. Claire does some data entry work for us and Paul is our next door neighbour.
All three boys are very keen on sports, rugby in particular. Paul played out half for Skerries at under 16 and under 18 this year. Peter and Davy both played for Belvedere this season at under 15 and under 13 respectively. Belvedere bought some defibrillators this year and we trained some of the staff. Maria (wife and business partner) thought it would be good for the lads to know how to use them as well.
Its not the boys first meeting with the Irish Heart Foundation. Before Christmas we got a last minute request to help out with a Church gate collection and they were volunteered by their parents to collect at 10.30am and 12.00 noon masses. Somewhat reluctantly they agreed. For the record they collected over 500
Congrats are due also to the participants in our monthly public Occupational First Aid Training course which finished yesterday. Jonathan Harbourne, Linda Farrelly, Caroline Malone and Marek Janick all successfully completed their course and are now trained first aiders.
With the day that was in it, we had red roses for all!
